I am a graduate student in Biomedical Engineering at UC Irvine. I received my master degree in 2008 from the same place. I am interested in machines, logical processes, automation, and integration. My satisfaction comes when a machinery I designed perform certain tasks elegantly, especially with user interaction. My interests were cultivated from childhood, when I disassembled many tape deck/radios and alike to study the designs. I became a bioengineer when my undergraduate advisor suggested this major to me. It is an interdisciplinary field that integrates biology and other parts of my interests. Particularly, the integration is the selling point.
I am highly efficient, if not an expert, in computers and in finding information on the Internet. I have many years of casual experience in scripting and programming, including mIRC, Matlab, C++, TCL, and PHP. I also have experience in computer repairs, especially in Windows, home networking, antivirus, and computer security. I am also familiar with Linux for home and office use. I prefer command line terminal over graphical interface. Of course, I will still pick the contrary if it is more efficient. In my opinion, a computer is a tool. Though I would not deny the fact that it in itself is a useful exercise in design and integration.
